The genetic differentiation of the Far Eastern Iris species was studied by RAPD-PCR. Of 26 arbitrary primers tested, several primers - OPD-08, OPD-11, OPD-13, and OPB-12 - were species-specific. Based on the DNA amplification spectra, the dendrogram of genetic similarity between species was constructed. The genetic remoteness of Pardanthopsis dichotoma from the other species assayed was shown, which is consistent with the existing classification of Iridaceae. The RAPD analysis allows one to differentiate Iridaceae species and may be used for solving disputable problems in systematics of the genus Iris L. and the family Iridaceae.
