A palynological succession in the Amur-Zea Depression from the Senonian to the Early Paleocene is considered. The peak diversity of palynoflora is recorded in the Early to Middle Maastrichtian. A rich vertebrate fauna of herbivorous and carnivorous dinosaurs existed in the Amur Region at that time. An abrupt change of climate and vegetation at abcut the Middle to Late Maastrichtian boundary caused the rapid decline and extinction of large reptiles.
