When describing the subgenus Hyporhoe Beljaev & Gorbunov, 2025 of the genus Catarhoe Herbulot, 1951, with a single species included, the type species of the new genus-group name was not explicitly indicated, due to an oversight (Beljaev et al. 2025). The absence of the type species for this new taxon caused an extensive discussion among specialists about the availability of this name. To summarize the situation under discussion, it should be noted that the Code does not require mandatory indication of the type species of a new genus group name in the case of monotypy of the taxon being formed. However, the explicit designation of the type species is highly recommended to avoid any confusion.
