The approach to reveal the criteria for evaluating of the plant species differentiation on the example of the Poaceae species of the Russian Far East flora is given. It permits to separate three groups of criteria, which are applicable to describe the ways of adaptation of plant species to natural conditions in the contact zone East Asia – Pacific ocean: 1) the number of types of habitats, which the species can occupy; 2) increasing or decreasing of ecological and biological potential from continental to coastal bioclimatic zone; 3) connection with the certain florogenetic centre.
