Studies of fungi were carried out in “Bastak” state natural reserve located in the Jewish Autonomous Region. 197 species of aphyllophoraceous fungi are recorded. 34 species of them attack living hardwoods and conifers causing white and brown rot. Climacodon septentrionalis, Oxyporus populinus, Porodaedalea laricis, Phellinus igniarius, Laetiporus sulphureus are the most dangerous pathogenic fungi. Obligate parasites of living trees are represented by five species (Laricifomes officinalis, Phellinus rimosus, Ph. tremulae, Inonotus hispidus and Fomitopsis castanea). Some species exhibit a narrow substrate specialization (Hericium erinaceus, Piptoporus betulinus, Phellinus baumii, Ph.s hartigii and others). Three species of them are edible and 9 – have medicinal properties. 3 species (Sparassis crispa, H. erinaceus and Ganoderma lucidum) are included in the Red data book of Jewish Autonomous Region, one of them (S. crispa) – in the Red data book of Russian Federation.
