The problems of classification of forest vegetation reflecting specific features of the forest-forming process are discussed. According to the present interpretation, forest-forming process reflects different evolutionary stages of the forest cover. The degree of reflecting the peculiarities of forest formation in classification of forest vegetation depends on the volume of the main classification unit-forest type. Forest type combines biogeocenoses at different age and restoration stages and reflects most fully the main stages of the forest formation. The classification based on characteristics of forest types allows one to plan sylvicultural measures directed to control of forest resources.
