A model of relationships between forest communities and basic parameters of environmental con ditions, which is suitable for making prognostic maps of forest types, has been developed and tested on the territory of Verkhneussuriysky Biogeocenotic Station of the Institute of Biology and Soil Science. A compar ative analysis of the spatial distribution of forest communities has been performed according to this model and to the largescale map of recent forest vegetation on the territory of the station.
