An annotated catalogue of the Mutillidae and Myrmosidae (Hymenoptera) of the Palaearctic Region, with the keys to the genera

Forty-seven valid species and one subspecies in eight genera of the family Myrmosidae and 533 valid species and 50 subspecies in 57 genera of the family Mutillidae are listed. Twenty-nine lectotypes are designated: Dasylabris iberica Giner Marí, 1942; D. sejugis Radoszkowski, 1885; Mutilla aegyptiaca Radoszkowski, 1876; M. ballioni Radoszkowski, 1866; M. bareyi Radoszkowski, 1893; M. binio Radoszkowski, 1888; M. caspica Kolenati, 1846; M. corniculata Sichel & Radoszkowski, 1869; M. cyaneiventris André, 1896; Mutilla desertorum Radoszkowski, 1865; M. erschoffii Sichel & Radoszkowski, 1870; M. etzchmiadzini Radoszkowski, 1885; M. fasciata Klug, 1829; M. fimbriata Klug, 1829; M. frontalis Klug, 1829; M. laticeps Radoszkowski, 1888; M. lezginica Radoszkowski, 1885; M. lucasi Sichel et Radoszkowski, 1869; M. mongolica Radoszkowski, 1861; M. paripunctata Pallas in Sichel & Radoszkowski, 1869; M. petiolaris Radoszkowski, 1865; M. quadrinotata Klug, 1829; M. saltensis Radoszkowski, 1885; M. stribligata Sichel & Radoszkowski, 1869; M. transcaspica Radoszkowski, 1888; M. tricolor Klug, 1829; Myrmilla mavromoustakisi Hammer, 1950; Smicromyrme matruhana Invrea, 1960; and Trogaspidia priesneri Invrea, 1963. Neotype is designated for Mutilla bartholomaei Radoszkowski, 1865. Five new synonymies are proposed: Pseudophotopsis fumata Bischoff, 1920 = P. kokpetica rufothoracica Bischoff, 1920, syn. nov.; P. obliterata (Smith, 1855) = Mutilla (Ephutomma) syriaca André, 1900, syn. nov., = E. armeniaca Skorikov, 1935, syn. nov., = E. continua cyprica Hammer, 1950, syn. nov.; and Smicromyrme hierosolymitana Invrea, 1953 = S. priesneri Invrea, 1960, syn. nov. New status is proposed for three species: Physetopoda nigrithorax (André, 1902), stat. nov. (from Ph. pusilla nigrithorax (André, 1902)); Smicromyrme complecta Invrea, 1960, stat. nov. (from S. lybica complecta Invrea, 1960); and S. orientalis Nonveiller, 1959, stat. resurr. (from the secondary homonym). Three new combinations are proposed: Physetopoda pallidula (Bischoff, 1921), comb. nov. (from Smicromyrme); Ph. rufithorax (Giner Marí in Giner Marí & Suárez, 1959), comb. nov. (from Smicromyrme), and Rasnitsynitilla tetragona (Invrea, 1960), comb. nov. (from Smicromyrme). Thirteen new country records are presented: two from China, one from Bulgaria, one from Croatia, one from Russia, one from Kazakhstan, one from Uzbekistan, two from Jordan, one from Syria, one from Egypt, one from Tunisia, and one from Nepal.
