The Afrotropical genus Strangulotilla Nonveiller, 1979, which was recorded from Sri Lanka, is newly reported from India with the description of a new species Strangulotilla sureshani sp. nov. from Western Ghats of Karnataka. The differences of a new species with closely related S. krombeini Lelej, 2005 and key to the Oriental species of Strangulotilla are given.
