In a stationary experiment (nine-course crop rotation), the application of manure in combination with lime increased the content of microorganisms developing on organic media and water-soluble humic substances. The addition of mineral fertilizers to the manure-lime combination decreased the number of heterotrophs and inhibited the formation of water-soluble humus. The application of manure alone had a positive effect on the formation of humic acids, and the addition of lime negatively affected this process. The application of mineral fertilizers alone increased the formation of humic acids. Liming enhanced the microbiological decomposition of humus. When green manure was applied the decomposition of organic matter was slowed down, and humus loss was less pronounced.
