Chromosome sets were studied in 39 rat-like hamsters; 35 out of them had 2n=28. Accessory chromosomes were found in 4 animals (3 of them had 2n=28, 29 and 1 had 2n=28,29,30 in bone marrow tissues; 3 of them had 2n= 29, 30 in testis tissues). C- and G-banding of metaphase chromosomes were shown, as well as large heterochromatin blocks in B-chromosomes. The presence of B-chromosomes in T. triton suggests that there are no cytological grounds for the division of T. triton in two species proposed by Vorontsov and Radjabli (1969)
