Micropropagation protocols were developed for eight varieties of strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.), a medicinal and valuable resource crop. The development of technologies for sanitation and propagation of F. ananassa plants is a research project in the field of food security. Plants of each cultivar exhibitedvarying rates of clone and root formation in vitro. The highest number of microclones was detected in the cv. ‘Alba’, while the cv. ‘Cabrilo’ and cv. ‘Murano’ formed a higher number of leaves. The successful formation of microclones with well-developed root systems reflects the effectiveness of the proposed protocol for the ‘Murano’ and ‘Cabrilo’ varieties. Mass root formation on a hormone-free nutrient medium for the ‘Alba’, ‘Murano’, and ‘Rusich’ varieties demonstrates the feasibility of using this medium during the rooting stage, which makes the micropropagation process more efficient in terms of both cost and labor.
