The first data on the species diversity of microlepidoptera from the Moneron Island have been obtained. The list of discovered species includes 32 species from eight families (Adelidae, Yponomeutidae, Argyresthiidae, Plutellidae, Depressariidae, Coleophoridae, Gelechiidae, and Tortricidae), all of which, except Nemophora aurifera Butler, are new to the island fauna. One species, Scrobipalpa freyii (Scott), is new to the fauna of the Russian Far East, and eight species (Argyresthia praecocella Zeller, Anthonympha rossica Ponomarenko, Agonopterix angelicella (Hübner), Ecebalia sternipennella (Zetterstedt), Cochylimorpha hedemanniana (Snellen), Syricoris mori (Matsumura), S. rivulana (Scopoli), Eucosma abacana (Erschoff)) are recorded from the Sakhalin Region for the first time. More than a third of the discovered species (12) have trans-Palaearctic range. Species distributed in East Asia constitute the second largest group, comprising nine species. The trophic specialisation is known for 19 discovered species. Larvae of most of them have a wide range of host plants, being narrow (9 species) and broad (7 species) oligophagous. Most species are hortophagous and develop on plants of meadow communities, which occupy half the area on Moneron Island.
