In 2025, new summering sites and confirmed nesting localities of the Japanese Waxwing ( Bombycilla japonica ) were discovered in the Nogliki District of Sakhalin Oblast. Previously, only four nests of this species had been documented, all from Khabarovsk Krai and Amur Oblast. We report the first discovery and description of nests on Sakhalin Island, including one nest with a clutch, one nest abandoned by chicks, one unfinished nest, and three nests from previous years. We obtained specific data on the nesting biology and habitat preferences of one of the least studied bird species in the Russian Federation. The discovery of old nests of the Japanese Waxwing at one of the nesting sites suggests the existence of permanent breeding areas for individual pairs or parcels.
