The manual describes the main methods of hygienic-microbiological examination of soil and its hygienic evaluation from the point of view of infectious danger to humans. The current sanitary-microbiological control of soils, along with the indication of individual pathogenic microorganisms, includes indirect methods based on the calculation of the total number of saprophytic bacteria and the determination of the degree of contamination with human and animal excreta by sanitary-indicative microorganisms.
