The paper is devoted to the activity of Nikolai N. Vorontsov during his Vladivostok period. The author recounts the establishment and further development of the Institute of Biology and Soil Science, headed by N.N. Vorontsov. In particular, the author reminisces the organization of the Laboratory of Evolutionary Genetics and Zoology. Vorontsov's teaching activities in the Far Eastern State University and the formation of scientific school are also described.
