The vegetation and embryozemes formed beneath it in the quarry-dump complexes of the North-Eastern surface coal mine of JSC "Russian Coal" in Amur Oblast were studied. It is shown that under the plantings of Scots pine by the age of forty-six years, organ-accumulative embryozemes were formed, and under the meadow-forest vegetation developed humus-accumulative with a pronounced turf and humus-accumulative horizons. Soil profiles in both variants are short. It is shown that the evolution of soils under different vegetation groups goes with the same speed, but in different directions. Beneath the plantations of Scots pine, the evolution of forming soils follows the forest type, while under the meadow-forest vegetation, it is probably directed towards the formation of meadow-brown soils.
