The level of genetic differentiation between two-needle pines from the Russian Far East was ascertained using electrophoretic analysis of 24 allozyme loci. The data obtained support the hypothesis that the northern P. densiflora populations (adjacent to Lake Khanka) are hybrids between Scots pine and Japanese red pine. The gene flow between P. densiflora populations was 0.81 calculated on the basis of private alleles. In P. densiflora hybrid and typical populations, the mean number of alleles per locus, percentage of polymorphic loci, and expected and observed heterozygosities were 1.90, 64.6, 0.191, and 0.196 and 1.83, 58.3, 0.171, and 0.162, respectively.
