Detailed analysis of more than 100 years' expe- rience of studying and cultivation of an apricot Manchurian (Armeniaca mandshurica (Maxim) Kostina is provided in the research. In a number of regions of our country it is presented in botanical gardens, tree nurseries and parks. The apricot is also widespread abroad in gardens and city gar- dening. A. mandshurica is a relic type of an apricot deserving attention which occupies rather small area, settling down in the south of the Far East Russia, in Northern and Northeast China, and also on the peninsula of Korea. In Southern Primorye, approximately on 45° northern latitude, the north- east part of its area is situated. The apricot is in- cluded in the list of rare and disappearing plants of the Russian Federation. The main available materi- als about A. mandshurica are dated generally to the 20-60-ies of the XX century. Special research- es in the places of natural growth have not been conducted; biological, ecological and forestry prop- erties of A. mandshurica are also very poorly stud- ied. In area borders it is protected insufficiently as now the influence on forest communities with its participation of spontaneous forest destroying fac- tors (mainly forest fires) leading to the reduction of the spaces occupied by studied species is not ex- cluded. Taking into account that in the Southern Primorye there is northeast border of an area of A.mandshurica, the protection of genetic fund of this species has international value. The assumption of distribution of A. mandshurica on the territory of Southern Primorye in the middle ages, from the gardens created by cultural forms brought from North Korea or China has also been made.
