The purpose of the study was comparative studies and comparisons of the numerical indices (NI) of the absorption spectra of extracts from the leaves of grass growing in open spaces and under the canopy of the forest, as well as shrubs, lianas and trees. The factor of relative photoabsorption as the ratio of the optical density at the analytical absorption wavelength of chlorophyll in the red region to the optical density at the wavelength of the highest maximum, the integral absorption intensity, and the coefficient of relative absorption intensity were used as the NI. Absorption spectra of extracts from leaves of trees, lianas and grasses that grow in open spaces have the lowest NI. The shadow-loving herbs are characterized by the highest values of NI. The values of state of emergency of shrubs occupy intermediate values between the state of emergency of trees and shade-loving grasses. The results obtained are consistent with modern concepts of the absorption of light in plant leaves. The experimental material presented in the work demonstrates a new approach to the spectrophotometry evaluation of light absorption by the components of leaves of plants. Application in the analysis of light absorption by plant leaves extends the range of application of molecular spectrophotometry, which is important for increasing useful information extracted with a spectrophotometer. Used in the work of NI it is expedient to apply in practice as criteria in the monitoring of plant resources and ecological assessments of the state of forests under anthropogenic, climatic stresses.
