Selection of cyanobacteria axenic strains is an actual problem and it is difficult one because these organisms form consortia with different bacteria and micromycetes. The influence of antibiotics (tetracycline, furazolidone, tsiprolet) and fungicides (fluconazole, amphotericin B) of wide spectrum of activity on the strain of cyanobacterium Nostoc punctiforme (Kutz.) Hariot and concomitant micromycetes and bacteria was studied. Nostoc punctiforme (Kutz.) Hariot strain Sv31j was isolated from the cave Severnaya (Sverdlovsk region, Russia). All studied antibiotics in concentrations of more than 50 µg/ml inhibited the activity of cyanobacteria. The most effective fungicide completely inhibiting the micromycetes (amphotericin B in concentration above 100 µg/ml) had minimal effect on the studied strain of cyanobacteria. Complete purification of Nostoc punctiforme (Kutz.) Hariot Sv31j strain from bacterial flora was achieved using the combined drugs (amphotericin B and fluconazole in concentration above 200 µg/ml and tsiprolet in concentrations of 30 or 40 µg/ml). The studied strain Nostoc punctiforme (Kutz.) Hariot was more sensitive to antibiotics than the fungicides. The authors suppose that it is due to the physiological similarity of bacteria and cyanobacteria and due to symbiotic relationships between them.
