The paper informs about 9 species of East Asian ornamental shrubs grown in the arboretum of the given institution, summarizing the cultivation results. For each species the paper indicated: phenological group, duration of vegetation, degree of winter hardiness, group of prospects. Some morphological features of these species and periods of their greatest ornamental properties are given. Most East Asian species have high winter hardiness and good indicators of generative development (bloom and bear fruit). In order to determine the prospects groups among the introduced species, there was applied a method of integral assessment of viability and introduction prospects based on visual observations. The tested species of East Asian shrubs are characterized by a high adaptive potential, which makes it possible to recommend them to a wide culture in the southern seaboard.
