The collective monograph "The plant cover of the volcanic plateaus of Central Kamchatka" (ed. by V. Yu. Neshataeva) is devoted to the species diversity, community diversity and vegetation dynamics of the two volcanic plateaus located in the Kluchevskaya volcano group (Central Kamchatka). The book is based on the long-term investigations of the flora and vegetation of Tolbachinsky Dol and Ushkovskiy Dol plateaus. The new data on the local floras of vascular plants, lichens, bryophytes (mosses and liverworts) of the volcanic plateaus are presented. The peculiarities of the species diversity and vegetation diversity of both plateaus are analyzed. The plant community classification based on the principles of Russian geobotanical approach is elaborated. The species composition of plant communities, the community structure and dynamics are analyzed. The patterns of the plant cover latitudinal zonality, altitudinal differentiation and their transformation due to the volcanic activities are shown. The results of the large-scale vegetation mapping and the cartographical analysis of the geobotanical maps are presented. The survey data presented in the monograph are of a great importance for the knowledge of the mechanisms of the vegetation dynamics of Kamchatka under the influence of modern and Holocene volcanism. Besides, they are of great interest for the paleobotanists and paleogeographers making possible to reconstruct the Quaternary history of the flora and the vegetation of North-Eastern Asia.
