Khakassky Nature Reserve (Zapovednik) was organized in 1999. It is a cluster type, consists of 9 clusters with a total area of 267.9 thousand hectares. Steppe clusters of the reserve located within Chebakovo-Balakhtinsk and Minusinsk basins of Nazarovsko-Minusinsk intermountain depression, mountain-taiga clusters located on the Northern macroslope of the Western Sayan. The Pozarym Nature Reserve (Zakaznik) is subordinated to the Khakassky Nature Reserve (Zapovednik). The Pozarym Nature Reserve (Zakaznik) formed in 2011, with an area of 253.7 thousand hectares. Orographically, the territory of the Pozarym Nature Reserve (Zakaznik) belongs to the mountain system of the Western Sayan. In the flora of the Nature Reserve Khakassky (Zapovednik) there are 842 species of algae, 172 species of fungi, 415 species of lichens, 1195 species of higher vascular plants. The Red Data Book of the Republic of Khakassia includes 71 species of higher vascular plants, 4 species of lichens, 2 species of fungi. The Red Data Book of the Russian Federation includes 16 species of higher vascular plants, 3 species of lichens, 1 species of fungi. At the moment, 299 species of terrestrial insects, 11 species of fish, 4 species of amphibians, 5 species of reptiles, 252 species of birds and 69 species of mammals are known to inhabit the reserve. The Red Data Book of the Republic of Khakassia includes 3 species of insects, 1 species of amphibians, 67 species of birds, 13 species of mammals. The Red Data Book of the Russian Federation contains 26 species of birds and 3 species of mammals. The flora of the Pozarym Nature Reserve (Zakaznik) is represented by 176 species of algae, 510 species of higher vascular plants. The Red Data Book of the Republic of Khakassia presents 18 species of vascular plants, 7 of which are included in the Red Data Book of the Russian Federation. 77 species of terrestrial insects, 2 species of fish, 14 species of birds, 2 of them are listed in the Red Data Book of the Republic of Khakassia, and 28 species of mammals, 6 of them are listed in the Red Data Book of the Republic of Khakassia and 2 species in the Red Data Book of the Russian Federation.
