The Opasnyy Island is a unique natural object, on which there is the largest haul-out site of largha seal in the southeastern Primorye. Monitoring of the animal world has been conducted for 15 years already. The birth of the seal cubs was first recorded in March 2011. Here is the northernmost nesting colony of the black-tailed gulls, as well as the colonies of fork-tailed swifts, spectacled guillemots and Japanese cormorants. Eurasian eagle owl nests also. The Island is situated on the migration route of cetaceans: a Minke whale, a small and large Killer whale, a Humpback whale. This work is designed to attract attention to the Island, to help the Lazo Reserve get a legal right to monitor the island's biocenoses, is a scientific justification for giving the island the status of a Natural Monument.
