The problem of evaluation of marine and coastal protected areas management effectiveness is discussed. Three main groups of indicators were selected: biophysical, socioeconomic and governance. Biophysical indicators allow to evaluate different biological and physical parameters. Socioeconomic indicators reflect relationship between a reserve and local community, stakeholders and visitors. Governance indicators characterize management of the reserve. The next stage is collecting necessary data in order to get a starting point for the further evaluation. Then analysis of the data collected follows. And finally distribution and sharing the information with the parties interested are necessary.
