Victor Vsevolodovich Bogatov - Dr.Sci.(Biol.), Professor, Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Sciences, Principal Research Scientist of Laboratory of Freshwater Communities of the Institute of Biology and Soil Science, Far Eastern Branch, Russian Academy of Science, Professor of Faculty of Geoinformation Systems of Far East State University (2002-2008). He is an expert in the field of fresh-water hydrobiology, biogeography, malacology and wildlife management. He has worked since 1974. In 1994 - 2002, Victor Bogatov led the Department of Scientific Research in the Presidium of Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Science. During the same period, he was the coordinator of large scientific projects, including the organization and management of 8 international scientific sea expeditions to the Kuril Islands. He is a chairman of Doctoral Dissertation Advice and the vice-president of Far East Section of Scientific Advice for the Russian Academy of Science on Ecology and Emergency Situations. He is a member of the Presidium of the Hydrobiological Society of the Russian Academy of Science, of the International Association of Theoretical and Applied Limnology (SIL), of the Society for Freshwater Science (SFS), of the International Society for Medical and Applied Malacology (ISMAM) and of the Benthological Society of Asia (president 2015-2016). He is Chief Academic Secretary of Far Eastern Branch of the RAS (2013 - present). V.V. Bogatov is the author of more than 150 scientific papers and 6 monographies.
