Floodplain forests of Sakhalin Island: some results and prospects of next studies

Floodplain forests of Sakhalin Island are not well investigated. Although these plant communities are important as an element of terrestrial ecosystems and interesting as an object of study in the local and inter-regional levels. The article summarizes information about different directions and results of riparian forest studies in Sakhalin Island. Species composition and classification (1), dynamics (2) and some ecological features (3) of floodplain forests of Sakhalin Island and adjacent regions were reviewed.
