One of the key problems of Post-Pleistocene evolution of plant cover of Northern Asia is the comprehensive analysis and comparison of floras for the studying of existing gradients and their dividing into the hierarchical system of phytochories. The comparison of regional floras allowed to develop the hierarchical system of floral units and to show the main borders in flora of Northern Asia. The comparative study supports the distinguishing of the three floristic areas described by Takhtajan (1978). The six phytochories of provincial rank were described in this study: Manchuria-Hokkaido belonging to East-Asian area; Arcto-Boreal, Circumboreal, Euro-Siberian and Montane South Siberian belonging to Boreal area; and South Mongolian belonging to Iran-Turan area. The main floristic changes were found along the gradients of warmth (south-north) and moisture (east-west). The analysis showed the situation of the border between the Boreal and East-Asian areas southerly of that in the modern schemes.
