Oxygen productivity, phytoncide activity and leaves' damage by phytotoxic substances of the trees of 60 species were investigated. It was shown that coniferous trees had lower photosynthesis activity than deciduous trees, but among them there are spp. with active photosynthesis (Betula mandshurica, B. davurica, Acer komarovii, Cerasus max imowiczii, Populus davidiana) and with low one (Armeniaca Mandshurica, Salix schwerinii, Ulmus pumila, Acer tegmentosum , A. ginnala, A . ukurunduense, Pacius asiatica). Oxygen productivity varied from 2 .18 to 437 .84 kg of oxigen for one adult tree during the season. The coniferous trees have a high photosynthetic rate because they have great needles biomass and long photosynthetic period. There are species with the low degree of leaves damage by phytotoxic substances, such as Robinia pseudoacacia, Armeniaca mandshurica, Salix siuzewii, S. schwerinii, Aralla elata. The less stability was found in Alnus hirsuta, Carpinus cordata, Fraxinus mandshurica, F. rhynchophylla and coniferous trees. All the species have a phytoncide activity. Coniferous trees have a high phytoncide activity (Picea ajanensis, Pinus koraiensis, Ables holophylla) and deciduous species have a low activity (Acer mono, Alnus hirsuta, Populus davidiana) . These results may be of use in estimating of recreational forests.
