The history of phytopathological and mycological research in the Far East is a story of the most beautiful travels and hard work of people who are ready to go to unexplored areas for the sake of self-realization. Living in new territories, they had to solve a serious problem of periodic occurrence in the region of epiphytoty caused by phytopathogenic fungi. The region was sorely lacking in specialists. The article contains information on the formation of the scientific phytopathological and mycological school in the Far Eastern region, beginning from the forties of the last century to the present time.
